Skincare

Wearing makeup is fun but as a young adult, you should also know the truth. Your makeup application will never look good if you do not take care of your skin.
- Pro tips before you go wild!

Wash your hands before touching your face and before applying makeup!
Always take off your makeup/wash your face every night using what I recommend below and do not use makeup remover wipes (unless its the only option when traveling).
*Makeup wipes cause acne, it clogs your pores after you wipe your makeup off and leaves behind a residue on your face.
ALWAYS wash yours brushes, beauty blenders or any other items that touches your face and or your makeup.
*If you do not wash your makeup brushes, you will skin issues like (acne, pink eye, rashes, dermatitis etc.)
Once you open your makeup it starts to expire because the product is now exposed to air and bacteria.
There is an expiration date on your makeup product. The symbol is a small makeup container with a number inside it. Keep track of this number on all your products to avoid bacteria infections.
Replace your makeup and skincare as directed. If the texture is off and it smells weird no matter what the date says throw it away/Recycle it! (*clean the container and return them where you bought it because some brands reward you for recycling!)
Less is always more! Stay true to yourself and do not let social media peer pressure you into anything.
Do Not Bully Others! If other girls have not figured out how to wear makeup like influencers on Instagram. Be kind and teach each other what you know, girls are stronger together!

- I did purchase makeup from Cocokind but due to a new formula I am waiting for the company to relaunch this category, otherwise you can’t even find it online.
S.W. Basics
Cleanser - I use this cleanser with a cotton round or a reusable face towel. This cleanser is gentle and effective which helped me restore my skin after having a skin reaction from the toxic cleanser I was using prior. This bottle lasted me a full month but this will vary depending on how many times you wash your face per day.
Toner - This toner is exactly what you will want and need when you start this clean skincare journey. This toner worked great on my combination/ sensitive skin too.
Rose Water Spray - This trendy mist is a big deal! Its calming yet refreshing. This a perfect mist for the summer months because sometimes you need a little pick me up during the day at work or out shopping. Don’t wait to give this mist a try because it only has 1 ingredient!
Aloe Vera Powder - This is a quick and easy way to make a face mask without having to track down an aloe vera plant or purchasing a bottle of pure aloe which is expensive. Now you can incorporate aloe vera with these quick convenient packs.

Mascara

Foundation/Concealer

100% Pure Powder Foundation -This is the healthiest foundation on 100% Pure’s website! I personally wear shade (Golden Peach) this is the perfect foundation for combination skin. It’s buildable, the ingredients are clean and shouldn’t cause any acne.
100% Pure Cream Foundation - With clean ingredients just like the powder foundation, I found 100% Pure’s cream foundation to also be amazing! Coverage and moisture during the winter months. I again wear the shade (Golden Peach). This is light weight but can used on its own or in combination with powder or finishing powder depending how much coverage you are looking for. Its very buildable.
2nd Skin Concealer in Shade 4 - This was hard to color match online, but I finally figured it out. The first ingredient is olive squalane which gave this concealer a strong smell at first but faded. Also, once you apply the concealer use a beauty blender to blend this in right away because it does dry quickly. This is the perfect formula for random acne that popped out of nowhere. This concealer can also be used under the eyes for puffiness or discoloration. If you are ever in a pinch, try it on your eyelids as a eyeshadow primer.
Pacifica- This pressed powder comes in a couple shades and with simple ingredients that are healthier than other name brands. Give it a try, its affordable and at Target!
Well People-Pressed Powder Foundation- Try this brand it’s still cleaner than those brands youtubers are using for makeup tutorials. I used this brand and I recommended this brand to my family and friends too!

Eye Shadow

100% Pure Pretty Naked Palette This palette left to right contains: Luminizer/Highlighter (pale pink), Blush (basic brown pink tone) and Eyeshadows in colors flaxseed, toffee and chestnut. For 5 different products and a mirror this palette is a great value!
*This palette was the main reason why I bought a mattifying primer. Not all-natural eyeshadows adhere to your eyelids the same as the synthetic artificial colors do. However, it’s also how you build your color and what tools you use etc. So depending on how serious you take your eyeshadow, there are some good non toxic options I have provided here for you.
Pacifica- Mineral Eyeshadow Palette in Pink Nude- This palette might be basic but basic is back! I have this palette and the eyeshadows stays in place well and its perfect for day or night transitions.
*We have filters on every app, you don’t need crazy eyeshadow colors to stand out. Show the world you are beautiful without punk rock, stage makeup. Makeup was never intended to hide your so-called imperfections, embrace your natural looks!
Well People- Nudist #2 Eyeshadow Palette -This palette is sleek and cool with neutral colors that will look great on everyone! This eyeshadow can last a decent amount of time throughout your crazy day without smudging.
RMS Eye Polish I wanted to also include a cream eyeshadow because when you need a bolder all-day look try using a cream based eyeshadow. I have purchased a few RMS products and they work very well.

Makeup Brushes/Tools/Accessories

100% Pure Foundation Brush- I personally own this brush and have been using it for years! Clean it often or you will get acne! 100% Pure has an entire line of makeup brushes check it out and you my code for a discount and free shipping!
Non Latex M akeup Blender- This beauty blender works great for concealers and foundation. It’s soft, latex free and washes nicely.
RMS Brush - This brush is great for a cream or liquid foundation, but I actually use this brush for contouring.

Plume Eye Lash Curler - Try a using an eyelash curler to get a more defined lash. When you purchase a metal eyelash curler it will last forever. *Just make sure to replace the eyelash pad often and keep all the pieces clean. Eye lash curlers touch the base of your eyelid and lashes. Mascara residue will build up on the tool, if not cleaned properly it can cause a bacteria eye infection.
Green Tea Fiber Brow Builder- Medium Brown- This small brush takes a minute to get use to but once you do you will like the control you get with a small brush.
Creamy Long Last Liner: Blackest- This healthier black eyeliner is smooth and lasts most of the day like toxic eyeliner brands.

Deodorant

Clean deodorant is trial and error like all other clean beauty categories but with time I found options for both men and women. I would like to mention that when you switch from toxic to non toxic deodorant you should try detoxing your armpits.

ThinkSport - Aloe and Tea Flowers deodorant has a really nice floral scent and the formula is a nice gel like consistency and goes on smooth. Being a former athlete I can say this deodorant really lives up to its claims. This deodorant formula does contain baking soda so be careful it might be to strong for sensitive skin. Pretty Frank -Formally called (Primal Pit Paste) they recently changed the company name and packaging. Their formula has stayed the same for the baking soda line which include scents like Lavender and Unscented that I have used this year. Rustic Maka - I am proud to say this is a Michigan based company and women owned! This deodorant brand has one of the cleanest ingredients and I also found it to be a very smooth with a sensitive formula. I purchased and was gifted a few of their favorite scents like Calming Fields (Baking Soda Free), Lemongrass Gardens (Baking Soda Free), and Take a Hike. Natural deodorants smell and work great, this is the best deodorant company with the most options for everyone. I should also mention the most affordable too. Hair Care

Womensense-Citrus and Vanilla Shampoo and Conditioner- This is my favorite brand when it comes to styling my hair! I found this shampoo and conditioner at my local health and wellness store here in Canada at Banwell. The main link will help you locate this shampoo brand near you!
100% Pure -Burdock and Neem Healthy Scalp Shampoo and Conditioner - This version of 100% Pure’s shampoo and conditioner is lightweight which makes it great for all hair types. Burdock and Neem has a very simple and basic scent which is great for anyone who has a sensitivity to scents or in my opinion very gender neutral. Buy either size offered because the whole family can use this formula.
Carina Organics- Try their Peppermint Shampoo for a cooling effect and dandruff control then pair it with their Deep Treatment Conditioner in any of their scents. I personally used their deep treatment conditioner in place of their daily conditioner for extra moisture because it is easier to style my hair. They have a wide range of scents for their products, its very affordable and did I mention organic! My favorite scent is either sweet pea or citrus just depends on the season!
Rahua- I ordered the classic version of Rahua’s shampoo and conditioner because it’s another healthy alternative on the market. My first impression was that it has a woodsy and earthy scent but don’t worry they offer lighter scents! The classic scent I ordered is on the stronger side but its very clarifying, so this would be a great shampoo in between seasons if anyone suffers from dandruff or any other scalp imbalances. This shampoo like the others I have listed have ingredients that are organic which is great however, please be careful and read the label in case you have any allergies I did not address in this statement.
True Botanicals- Nourishing shampoo and conditioner is a high end celeb brand that I have been waiting to address. I purchased my first shampoo and conditioner bundle because just like the brands above it is highly rated for its clean ingredients.

Hair Styling Products
1. Womensense- Hair Oil Treatment -This is the perfect hair treatment for a blow out.
2. Carina Organics -Hair Spray in scent Sweet Pea! They have 2 other options on their website. Yes, I thought of non toxic hair spray for special events!
3. Carina Organics -Hair Gel in scent Sweet Pea! (Also comes in unscented). I love to scrunch my hair or use sea salt spray in the summer to help define and bring out my natural beach waves. This hair gel will hold up all day no matter where you live! I used this hair gel in different environments like: California, Nevada, South Dakota, Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan, Florida and now Canada!
4. Captain Blankenship -Dry Shampoo- This dry shampoo works great even with medium to dark brown hair. No issues here! Just brush it thru your hair or use your fingers to evenly distribute it.
5. Cocokind-Dry Shampoo/ Calming Powder- This was the first dry shampoo option I found online that was most non toxic and be can used in so many ways. Women can use this powder for dry shampoo and men can use this powder to reduce moisture in certain areas the summer months.
6. John Masters Organics Sea Mist - Sea Salt Spray- Organic sea mist with lavender. I used the old formula but both are great for that summer beachy wave look. This brand is pretty common at local health and wellness stores so next time your out grab this spray.

Nail Care

Nail polish can be fun but you have to keep practicing until your really good at doing your own nails. When you head to a salon with your family or friends make sure to bring your own polish if the salon doesn’t carry healthier options that I have displayed below.
Have you ever wondered why the nail salon smells? Or why the nail techs wear masks? Nail polish is toxic and if you don’t use the healthier brands you can expose yourself to chemicals that can cause respiratory problems, allergic reactions or worse reproductive issues like some nail techs have.
Its important to know that the products you apply to your skin and nails can greatly effect your health because chemicals can absorb quickly into the skin just as fast as eating (digesting) something that’s not healthy.
* All of these nail polishes are similar in price points to your toxic polish’s so swap them out already!!!

Ten over Ten -I purchased this brand at J.Crew years ago, it was one of the first non-toxic nail polishes I owned. I linked Target because they have the most colors for this brand! Enjoy!
Nail Polish Remover
1. Mineral Fusion- Commonly found at local health stores or online at well.ca for a nail polish remover it has a less toxic smell overall and works great at remover polish just as fast as toxic nail polish removers!
2. Piggy Paint - This company has a funny name but this nail polish remover is easy to find online or instore at Target or at Thrive Market and its super affordable!
3. Honeybee Gardens -This was the first nail polish remover I found online that was a healthier alternative to acetone.
4. Pure Anada Nail Polish Remover - This is a very popular nail polish remover here in Canada and online! If your living in the United States you might have to look for the other options provided.

Toothpaste

Finding healthy toothpaste has been a real struggle. Some are chalky, thin, thick and some are not even a color you might be used to. No matter what form of toothpaste you use, is it healthy? I have researched fluoride, sulfates, baking soda, silica, glycerin and many types of clay. What is really in our toothpaste should concern us all. Let’s embark on this journey together!
I should also mention that investing in a good long term toothbrush is ideal for environmental reasons. Plastic toothbrushes cause more problems to the earth because it can take up to 1000 years to decompose. Try a 100% bamboo toothbrush when you get the opportunity to choose. If the entire toothbrush is not 100% untreated bamboo it will not be 100% compostable so double check how the Bamboo and the bristles are made.
When you purchase items that are compostable they can be replanted, composted or better yet they can be thrown in your next safe bonfire started by your *parents.

Davids Toothpaste This is my most recent purchase of toothpaste. It scored well on the think dirty app and I purchased this online from Integrity Botanicals. David’s toothpaste is similar to Crest’s texture and thickness. Your breath stays fresh just as long.
Redmond Toothpaste - Want to try something really crazy! This natural toothpaste is the color of clay but it’s the toothpaste with the fewest ingredients (6 to be exact). Water, bentonite clay, and sea salt are the base of their toothpaste line. The rest of the ingredients are essential oils if you choose the unsweetened flavors. The wintergreen flavor contains Xylitol as the sweetener. To be transparent sweet or not all the toothpastes work the same. I don’t mind using this toothpaste but your breath wont stay fresh all day. I would recommend a mouth wash or tablets to offset this. But otherwise this is a super basic natural toothpaste that’s affordable.
Essential Oxygen Organic Brushing Rinse- Peppermint Mouthwash -Purchase this mouthwash from either well.ca or from Thrive Market in the 10oz bottle or a 3oz bottle for traveling.
Desert Essence- Floss that is healthier and uses tea tree essential oil and beeswax.

Lip Care

Sam Soulutions- Order Reviving Citrus Lip Balm online right away, it smells like an orange creamsicle! My husband is a lip balm snob and we both found this blend of ingredients to be incredible. Its very smooth and your lips will stay soft all day!
Vapour-Lux Lip Conditioner-I love the packaging for this lip balm! I have been using this lip conditioner for the last two months and I will continue to use Vapour during the winter season because its very moisturizing.
Lisa’s Ideal Health- Lip Balm- The vanilla and peppermint blend is our go to all year long. I send this blend of lip balm to my family and friends!
